All You Need to Know about Vacationing in the Turks and Caicos Islands

You’ve been searching for the ideal vacation spot all your life. And with the Turks and Caicos Islands, you’ve finally found it!

Breathtakingly beautiful, affordable yet luxurious, the Turks and Caicos Islands offer everything a person would need, if they want to be treated like royalty. But though you feel that thrum of anticipation run through your body, you can’t help but wonder if you might be biting off more than you can chew.
It’s a new destination (for you, at least). You can’t foresee what you’ll get. But that’s why you’re here, to get educated on all that you should expect on the Turks and Caicos Islands!

Getting the Low-Down on the Turks and Caicos Islands

They’re Native English Speakers

It’s a British territory, so everyone speaks English fluently. However, their accent may be similar to that of a Jamaican accent. So heed our warning; don’t be ignorant and ask if they’re native Jamaicans. The locals will get offended (inside tip!).

The Natives are Called ‘Belongers’

Unfortunately, the actual natives of the island were ruthlessly killed off by the Spanish. So the people you see on the islands are originally from the African continent. Instead of natives, these citizens like to call themselves ‘belongers’ as a way of showing respect to those that originally lived there.

They Use the US Currency

Although they are a British territory, the current used on the islands is the US dollar.

They Have Great Weather

Average temperature from June to October is usually around 85-90°F, whereas from November to May, it’s around 80-84°F. Hurricane season on the islands usually starts from June 1st and ends around November 30th.

The Islands Do Have Busy Seasons

Their busy season starts from mid-December and ends in Mid-April. However, if the weather holds, this busy season can extend to July. For vacationers on a budget, the best times are from June to the first-half of December. But it’s always best to compare the rates before confirming any bookings.

Citizens from the US, UK and Canada Do Not Need a Visa

If you have a passport from the above countries or are a legal resident in these countries, you won’t need a visa to enter the islands. In addition, if you have a tourist visa (valid and current) for these countries, you won’t need to get a separate visa to visit either.

Pack Right

Pack fewer clothes, have more cash and add some bottles of coral-safe sunscreen, jellyfish sting protective lotion and mosquito repellants to your suitcase instead.

Book the Right Rental

The Turks and Caicos are expensive, so even a stay at a hotel will take a huge chunk from your vacation expenses. Instead, book a luxury vacation rental such as Villa 306, located in the heart of Grace Bay Beach so you can have money left over to spend on other adventurous activities on the islands.

Go Forth and Enjoy!

And this is the gist of it!
So book that renaissance villa as your vacation rental, pack accordingly and get that flight out to one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in the world.
